The Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Cleansing Oil is the oil-based first step of a double-cleansing routine. Its job is simple: dissolve the makeup, SPF and sebum that build up on skin through the day, so your water-based cleanser can do the rest.

The texture is light and slips over the skin without a heavy, greasy feel. On contact it breaks down makeup and daily grime, then rinses clean with water, leaving skin feeling soft and comfortable rather than tight.

What's in it?

The BOJ team tested a range of oils before settling on soybean oil as the base — chosen because it's one of the lightest while still being effective at lifting away makeup residue and sebum. A small amount of ginseng seed oil adds a subtle, grassy scent that makes the cleansing step feel calm and pleasant.

Key ingredients

• Soybean oil (50%) — derived from Glycine Soja and rich in oleic, linoleic and linolenic acids. It helps dissolve makeup and impurities without clogging the look of pores and leaves skin feeling smooth.
• Ginseng seed oil (0.1%) — adds a light, natural grassy aroma for a relaxing cleanse.

How does it work?

The formula uses a micellar cleansing approach. A micelle is a tiny particle of oil and water; on contact with skin, the oil attracts and lifts away makeup and debris while water helps everything rinse off cleanly. Massage onto dry skin, emulsify with a little water until it turns milky, then rinse and follow with your usual water-based cleanser.

How to use

1. Dispense onto dry hands and apply to dry skin.
